MR. RAM C KHAREL

Mr. Ram C Kharel is a Nepali American. He is one of the prominent leader in the Nepalese community, who is focusing on serving Nepal. He is graduated in Law, TU-Nepal, and AV Engineering in USA. Mr. Kharel is heavily involved in promoting Nepal and encouraging entrepreneurship within Nepali community throughout the world. Mr. Kharel is the founder/CEO of Sagarmatha Television-USA (the first Nepali television program in abroad in the Nepalese history) and Nepal Darshan TV.
 

Mr. Ram C Kharel is holding a Credential to U.S. Senate and House of Representative Radio & TV News Gallery including White House. He is the Honorary Public Relations Representative (HPRR) since 2014. Mr. Kharel has been serving for Nepal in the Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) since 2005, holding various position in National Co-Ordination Council (NCC) and International Co-Ordination Council (ICC).
 

Mr. Kharel is the recipient of numerous awards such as; Cambridge Who's who – 2012 (from Donald Trump-USA), Gorkha Dakchhinbahu - 2005 (from Nepal’s King), Pioneer Nepali in North America and many more from the Nepali Organizations in America and around the world.

 Mr. Kharel lives in Northern VA with his wife Nilu Uprety Kharel and daughter Guransh Damanta Kharel.

Bishnu Sharma

Bishnu Sharma (MA, in Nepali literature and Post graduate in Women’s Studies, Tribhuwan University) currently, serving as afunder executive member of International Nepali Journalists Association (INJA). She is freelancing for Nepali online news portal and print media.  She is serving as a Nepali language instructor for Nepalese communities’ young children since 2015. She has started her journalism career from Himalayan Times Daily in 1995 since then has contributed in different broad sheet Nepali National Newspaper. She taught Nepali language in Campus of International language known Bishow Bhasha Campus 2000 to 2012. Sharma has served being the Treasurer for Freedom Forum Nepal, 2005-2013. And she has served as being an executive member of Federation of Nepali Journalistsand Nepal Press Union.  

She observed as a long term International election Observer at Bangladesh at 2008 organized by Asian Network for Free Election Foundation. She served as a lead interviewer for Family Health International for Nepal Adolescent and Young Adult (NAYA) Survey. She is fluent in Nepali, English, Hindi and Tharu language.

Tara Bhattarai

Tara Bhattarai is a journalist with over 20 years’ experience.  After successfully completing an intensive training from Global Press Institute (GPI) in 2007, she became a reporter, writer and desk editor with Global Press, an international media organization headquartered in the USA.

Tara Bhattarai has had a significant career in Global Press. Her stories have been credited with impacting local policies, including the drafting of the new constitution of Nepal. She was one of GPI’s first reporters and Nepal Desk Editor.

Tara Bhattarai, who often used a pen name worked as a writer and reporter at the time when women’s place in journalism was hardly recognized. Today, she is an internationally established and well-acclaimed writer and reporter with no need for a pen name.  

Among her many groundbreaking works, TaraBhattarai wrote a story of a girl who was sold to a brothel in India. The article turned out to be very popular in the field, recording over 1,000,000 online hits and it remains one of GPI’s best-known pieces of journalism. She also published other pioneering pieces focused on the discrimination against inter-caste couples in Nepal, including vivid stories of violence against lower-caste individuals. Based on this landmark work, a documentary was also made about one of the couples.  

Tara Bhattarai has had a wide range of experiences and expertise in the field as she worked on and has participated in various seminars and workshops and study tours in Nepal and abroad. Today, she, as a freelancer, continues to write articles, columns on a variety of issues confronting modern societies, with a particular focus on women’s issues, immigrants,senior citizens, and she publishes them in various media organization around the world.

Tara Bhattarai, a graduate of the Tribhuwan University of Nepal, is a well-respected journalist by her peers. She has many prestigious awards, honors, and citations, including Kurt Schork Award, nomination for Excellence in International Journalism of Reuters (shortlisted) to her credit.

Kishor Sapkota

Kishor Sapkota is a freelance writer and journalist. He worked about 15 years for Nepal Samacharpatra national daily. He covered lots of news specially on political issues, Maoist armed conflict, peace proces, and constitution making process. He led newsroom as a chief reporter for few years as well as worked as news editor. After migrating in the United States in 2012, he started freelance writing for online portal Setopati, Himalayakhabar, and Nepalplus. He has been living in Louisville, KY which is renowned for the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, Kentucky derby and Mammoth cave ( the longest known cave). He loves adventure travelling and writting stories on social issues. He is going to publish his first book (collection of stories) this year. He has a wife and two children.

Tanka Panta- VP/Coordinator, INNJA Asia

 

Tanka Panta is the member of the Nepal Television, Board of Directors. He is the Chief Editor of Rebublickhabar.com. The editor of Ghostwriting -Lekhankunj, Nepal and the Director of the Bishal media organization.  

He started his career as a journalist in 1990 from Dainik Samaj. Working as a parliament reporter since then. He had a 22 years long experience with Nepal Samacharpatra, and other print, online and Television in different capacities. Since 2002 he started his work with national broadsheet as a reporter. Covering the issues related to political, social, human rights, women and children, gender justices, anticorruption and peace building processes.  

He is involved with other civil society organizations and networks. He is the Founder member of Men Engage Alliance South Asia. (To engage men and boys in women’s rights and gender justice, to end all forms of violence against women). The advisor of Alliance Against Trafficking In Woman And Children In Nepal (AATWIN), (www.aatwin.org.np), Jagaran Nepal (www.jagarannepal.org), and Shakti Samuh(www.shaktisamuha.org.np)  

For his work on raising awareness on various social issues, he was honored by different national and international organizations including, Govind Byogi, Special Journalism award, by Editor's society Nepal. NPEACE Award, in Manila, Phillipines, by UNDP. Peace journalism award -2005, Citizen golden journalism service award 2010, Peace ambassador award in Thailand, IFJ award for tolerance prize for "Excellence in Journalism combating racism and discrimination, for the journalistic work in print/online- language" "Nepali girls in Indian brothels" for south Asia and  On March 8, National journalism award by the Ministry of women children and senior citizen and UNDP, Nepal had jointly felicitated for the work on women rights, social justice and peace.
